My new design kick has been ruffles for about 2 months now. I bought a ruffler foot back in March, used it once, and then kinda forgot about it. After watching this last season of Project Runway and being inspired by Leanne's creations I thought I'd bust out the ruffler foot and start designing some new stuffs. So far I've only used it on jersey since I don't have to worry about major fraying but if I get time this weekend, I'm going to try it on fleece to make a scarf. The shirt above is for sale in the shop here and I plan on listing more starting November 1st!
Finally! I've found time to blog. This week has been pretty hectic with my part-time job, college, internship, and my the shop. As mentioned in the previous post, I wrote a totally amazing blog that talked all about the aforementioned but sadly, the internets gobbled it up into its vast black hole. Quick rundown:
- Part time job is sucking MAJOR ass. The "change stations now" CD was replaced with a "postive affirmation" CD that plays messages like "YOU ARE CHEERFULL!" and "YOU ARE TALENTED" every 30 seconds. EVERY 30 seconds for 4 hours, 3 times a week, this is what I have to listen to. I'm pretty sure if I have to work there any longer I will go off the deep end - fo sho.
- Graduation day is December 13 and getting closer and closer and I'm feeling the pressure to pass all my required classes. I've never failed a class in my life, but for some reason I'm freaking out and believe that I might just fail classes needed for graduation. As a Psych major I could type pages about this, but I'll stop here.
- Internship working at a Girls' Home and kinda amazing yet very depressing at the same time.
- After I got over some very debilitating comments from some very rude people, I've finally been able to touch the sewing machine and create without feeling like throwing up. I really think people forget that there is a real person on the other side of their computer screen and what they say can have a major emotional impact on that person. Sometimes it gets extremely catty and reminds me too much of high school drama. But alas, for every meanie there is always 10 other super duper awesome person to make me have faith in the shop again. I believe there is a universal 10:1 ratio of awesome to rude people in the world that keeps the universe going.
Yep, and that's just a summary.
I offically declare this week "The Week of Lost Typings"! Yesterday I lost an entire 6 page essay when there was a blackout at the computer lab on campus yesterday and just now I lost a super duper amazing blog entry detailing on the going ons over the past 3 months.
New entires (that hopefuly will not be lost) are scheduled for tomorrow once I rediscover my sanity.
Over and out.
