My new design kick has been ruffles for about 2 months now. I bought a ruffler foot back in March, used it once, and then kinda forgot about it. After watching this last season of Project Runway and being inspired by Leanne's creations I thought I'd bust out the ruffler foot and start designing some new stuffs. So far I've only used it on jersey since I don't have to worry about major fraying but if I get time this weekend, I'm going to try it on fleece to make a scarf. The shirt above is for sale in the shop here and I plan on listing more starting November 1st!
Finally! I've found time to blog. This week has been pretty hectic with my part-time job, college, internship, and my the shop. As mentioned in the previous post, I wrote a totally amazing blog that talked all about the aforementioned but sadly, the internets gobbled it up into its vast black hole. Quick rundown:
- Part time job is sucking MAJOR ass. The "change stations now" CD was replaced with a "postive affirmation" CD that plays messages like "YOU ARE CHEERFULL!" and "YOU ARE TALENTED" every 30 seconds. EVERY 30 seconds for 4 hours, 3 times a week, this is what I have to listen to. I'm pretty sure if I have to work there any longer I will go off the deep end - fo sho.
- Graduation day is December 13 and getting closer and closer and I'm feeling the pressure to pass all my required classes. I've never failed a class in my life, but for some reason I'm freaking out and believe that I might just fail classes needed for graduation. As a Psych major I could type pages about this, but I'll stop here.
- Internship working at a Girls' Home and kinda amazing yet very depressing at the same time.
- After I got over some very debilitating comments from some very rude people, I've finally been able to touch the sewing machine and create without feeling like throwing up. I really think people forget that there is a real person on the other side of their computer screen and what they say can have a major emotional impact on that person. Sometimes it gets extremely catty and reminds me too much of high school drama. But alas, for every meanie there is always 10 other super duper awesome person to make me have faith in the shop again. I believe there is a universal 10:1 ratio of awesome to rude people in the world that keeps the universe going.
Yep, and that's just a summary.
I offically declare this week "The Week of Lost Typings"! Yesterday I lost an entire 6 page essay when there was a blackout at the computer lab on campus yesterday and just now I lost a super duper amazing blog entry detailing on the going ons over the past 3 months.
New entires (that hopefuly will not be lost) are scheduled for tomorrow once I rediscover my sanity.
Over and out.
I've been so busy working my two jobs that I really haven't had time to post on here lately. While I was looking for a new gelaskin for my iPod, I cam across this amazing artist named Rob something-or-another, and here is an awesome video about some of the stuff he does. It's about 4 years old, but still worth watching.
Well, not much has really gone on since the long post. I actually really LOVE my job at Rita's - it's pretty bomb ass as the young kids would say today. Maybe its my insatiable sweet tooth or that fact that I'm getting paid, that really makes me happy while I'm there. I'm totally going to drop the whole college act and start working there.
Sike.
Haha, remember "sike" from like the 2nd grade. It was like the ultimate burn/come back. "Your shoes look really cool. Sike!" It never failed. Speaking of old times, while I was sewing the other day I was thinking about what I'm going to get to finish my partial tattoo sleeve and just out of the blue this line from a song popped into my head: "...she wears her heart on her sleeve..." You know how it is when you get a tune or just a line stuck in your head and for the life of ya, you can't figure out what its from? Well thats how I was for the ENTIRE day. It was about to drive me nutso THEN it came to me - ITS THE THEME SONG FROM THE CLUELESS TV SHOW!! I had completely forgot all about that show and how I used to watch it everday when I came home from school on UPN in the 6th and 7th grade.
SOO...I googled it and was super stoked to find out that reruns are airing on "The N". I watched one episode and it was just as funny, if not better, than I remember it. I was worried that it was totally gonna suck balls - you know like how you remember things from your childhood better than they actually were. Needless to say, I have the DVR set to record all episodes that come on that channel at any time.
Also in T.V. shows that I love news - new episode of "I Survived A Japanese Game Show" comes on tonight. Ho yeah! Maybe a blog about that later on tonight if I feel up to it.
Well, in about 30 minutes I leave to start my new job at this brand new Ice Cream joint called Rita's. I know I'm a 21 year old college senior who probably has job skills out the ying-yang, but I can't help but confess that I am TOTALLY stressed out about this job.
I've already popped a couple klonopin, and I think that has helped with the panic attacks that are popping up a random in regards to the aforementioned stress inducer.
Some of the anxiety is coming over my tattoos and how I have to cover them up. So far I'm just using regular makeup and it seems to be working fine, but I ordered some Ben Nye tattoo coverup and that should hopefully arrive by the end of the week. I have my wrist tattoo covered, but I have a small rose tattoo on my right arm that is just slightly peeking out under my short sleeve that I'm slightly worried about.
Blah!
In other news, there's a HUGE sale going on in the Maybe Someday shop - 25% all items. Awesome right?
Oh, and Happy 4th for all my American peeps! If you're celebrating hard - just be sure to be safe!
"OOOooo" and "AhhHH" over the awesomness that is my first blog (a video one nonetheless!).
It's the first time I've ever tried recording something interesting and I really hope it didn't fall short of what I was aiming for. Luckily, my standards are pretty low so I think I hit it dead on. Ha!
